SOUTH POINT, Ohio (WSAZ) -- As part of the national Safe Routes to School program, a sidewalk construction project is set to begin in South Point.

ODOT says crews will be constructing sidewalks and curb ramps along the perimeter of the new elementary school along Park, High, Seventh and Washington streets.

The program assists communities in developing and implementing projects and programs that encourage and enable children in kindergarten through eighth grade to safely walk or bike to school.

Construction is scheduled to begin Monday, June 9, and all work should be completed by late summer.
