SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) – Additional charges have been filed in a horrific case of alleged child abuse out of Wheelersburg, Ohio.
Bobbi Sue Pack, 31, Edwina Louis, 52, and Juan Sanchez, 44, all of Wheelersburg, Ohio, were back in court Wednesday morning to answer charges from a superseding indictment handed down by Scioto County grand jury last month.
Each faces 23 counts in the new indictment. The charges include multiple counts of rape , endangering children, kidnapping, along with a single count of tampering with evidence. There is also a sexually violent predator specification on eight of the rape counts, due to the young age of the victims, according to Scioto County Prosecutor Mark Kuhn.
Pack is the kids' mother, and Louis is their grandmother. Sanchez is the children's stepfather. They were all arrested back in February.
All three are accused of tying three home-schooled children to their beds for weeks at a time, beating their naked bodies with belts and paddles, and depriving them of food.
The Scioto County Sheriff's Office said they learned about the alleged abuse after one of the children sent an email for help to a teacher at the children's online school
Scioto County Prosecutor Mark Kuhn says the new charges against the mother and grandmother involve complicity.
Kuhn says Pack, Louis and Sanchez pleaded not guilty to the charges during Wednesday’s arraignment.
Each is set to be back in court next week.
All three remain in the Scioto County Jail.
Sanchez was originally indicted on two counts of rape, and three counts of child endangerment. Pack and Louis were each indicted on three counts of counts of child endangerment in the original indictment from February. These new charges will replace the original indictments.
