PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A man who was shot by state troopers as he tried to run following a traffic stop is out of the hospital.
Ohio State Highway Patrol spokesperson Lieutenant Anne Ralston says the incident started about 8:30 p.m. Friday in the 1500-block of Chillicothe Street in Portsmouth.
Ralston says troopers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation when the passenger, Chaz Taylor, 26, of Portsmouth, got out of the car and ran away on foot.
One trooper chased Taylor for a short distance before shooting Taylor.
Taylor was taken to Cabell Huntington Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
On Saturday, Taylor was released from the hospital. He is now being held in the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville on a fugitive from justice warrant while awaiting extradition back to Scioto County.
The shooting remains under investigation.
