WOOD COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A teenager from McArthur in Vinton County, Ohio has drowned after swimming in the Ohio River near Blennerhassett Island in Wood County, W.Va.
The drowning happened Saturday afternoon.
The body of the 15-year-old was found under some brush in the water near the island about 7 p.m. Saturday.
Lt. Stan Hickman with the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources told the Parkersburg newspaper that the teen went missing after swimming with his brother about 20 yards from the shore. The boy’s family was reportedly camping nearby.
Dive teams from several fire departments took part in the search.
Authorities are not releasing the teens name at this time.
