ATHENS COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A woman from Athens was sentenced Wednesday to five years in prison for encouraging prostitution between a 16-year-old girl and a registered sex offender, according to information from the Athens County Prosecutor's Office.

Aileen Mays, 27, was sentenced for compelling prostitution, a second-degree felony. She was sentenced on the condition that she will not apply for judicial release. She also will be required to register as a sex offender for 25 years.

Prosecutor Keller Blackburn reported that “on Sept. 21, 2013, Mays did facilitate a 16-year-old female to have sex with a registered sex offender, Fred Kittle, in exchange for drugs and money. During the sexual encounter, Mays did enter the kitchen to use the drugs given to her in exchange.”

Blackburn went on to say, “This is an extremely sad case with a 27-year-old defendant, who is addicted to drugs and had control of a 16-year-old female. Mays put the 16 year old in an extremely dangerous and harmful position. Her life has drastically changed and as a result of her actions she will be spending the next five years of her life in prison. Upon her release from prison, she will be subject to five years of mandatory post release control.”

This case was investigated by the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.
