UPDATE 4/25/14 @ 10:15 a.m.
PROCTORVILLE, Ohio (WSAZ) -- The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a construction worker who was killed on the job Thursday.

The accident happened about 11:40 a.m. at the bridge on State Route 7 that crosses over the Indian Guyan Creek near Proctorville.

Sheriff Jeff Lawless says Bradley D. Jenkins, 45, of Otway, Ohio, slipped into a hole, went under water and did not resurface.

Investigators say Jenkins had been working on a drill bit when the ground slipped and he fell into a 10 foot hole, and was covered by rock and dirt debris.

Drivers from the Portsmouth Fire Department responded to the scene to work to retried Jenkins' body.

After six unsuccessful hours, crews decided to use a back hoe to dig Jenkins' body out of the hole. Sheriff Lawless says this was a last option because they did not want to damage his body with the equipment.

Jenkins' body was recovered about 10:15 p.m.

His body has been sent to Columbus for an autopsy. No foul play is suspected.

OSHA arrived on scene Friday morning to start their investigation into the accident.

Jenkins worked for Complete General Construction.
