UPDATE: Man Sentenced in State Park Heroin Bust

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (WSAZ) -- One of the five people indicted in connection with a large heroin find in a cabin at Shawnee State Park has been sentenced to prison.

Ryan L. Starks, 23 of both Portsmouth and Dayton was sentenced to 10 years for engaging in a pattern of corrupt activities and conspiracy to heroin.

Starks pleaded guilty to the two charges last week.

Investigators say that in August 2013 an employee cleaning a cabin found nearly $75,000 worth of heroin drawer, approximately $12,000 in cash, and pills in a drawer.

Park Rangers and Southern Ohio Drug Task Force officers seized the drugs and cash and then waited for the occupants to return to the cabin. Later that evening, Starks, Sashia Woods, of Portsmouth, Phillip T. Hanson-Bass of the Dayton area, Robert C. Woods III, also of the Dayton area, and Brittany D. Sadler of the Dayton, Ohio were arrested.

In January, a Scioto County indicted the five on multiple drug possession and trafficking charges.

Hanson-Bass was indicted on 22 counts, Robert Woods on 22 counts, Starks on 23 counts and Sashia Woods on 7 counts and Sadler on 5 counts.

“The evidence in this case indicted that this was an established heroin ring smuggling heroin from Dayton to Portsmouth on a regular basis, said Assistant Prosecutor, Pat Apel.

The cases against Sashia Woods and Sadler are pending. Prosecutors say Robert Woods and Phillip Hansen-Bass are still at large.

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio (WSZ) -- One of the five people indicted in connection with a large heroin find in a cabin at Shawnee State Park has been arrested.

Detectives with the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force arrested Sashia Woods, 29, of Portsmouth, on Friday

Woods, along with Ryan L. Starks of both Portsmouth and Dayton, Ohio, Phillip T. Hanson-Bass of the Dayton area, and Robert C. Woods III, also of the Dayton area, were arrested shortly after the discovery.

Investigators say that in August an employee cleaning a cabin found nearly $75,000 worth of heroin drawer and approximately $12,000 in cash in a drawer.

A recent Scioto County grand jury, indicted Woods on seven drug-related charges including Engaging in a Pattern of Corrupt Activity and Aggravated Trafficking in Heroin.

She is being held in the Scioto County Jail awaiting her arraignment in Scioto County Common Pleas Court.

Arrest warrants have been issued for Starks, Hanson-Bass, Robert Woods III, and Brittany D. Sadler, also of the Dayton, Ohio area.

PORTSMOUTH Ohio (WSAZ) -- Four people have been indicted in connection with what investigators say was possibly the largest single heroin bust ever in Scioto County.

It happened in August at Shawnee State Park when investigators said an employee cleaning a cabin found nearly $75,000 worth of heroin in a drawer and approximately $12,000 in cash.

Members of the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force Officers and Ohio State Parks Officers later arrested 24-year-old Phillip T. Hanson-Bass of Dayton, Ohio and 24-year-old Robert C. Woods Jr. of Dayton, Ohio after stopping their vehicle.

Members of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, West Union Police and officers from the Task Force and Park Service made an additional traffic stop and arrested 21-year-old Ryan L. Starks, and occupied by 28-year-old Sashia M. Woods, both of Portsmouth

This week a grand jury in Scioto County indicted all four people on multiple drug possession and trafficking charges.

Hanson-Bass was indicted on 22 counts, Robert Woods on 22 counts, Starks on 23 counts and Sashia Woods on 7 counts.
