CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Commercial property leasing manager and opinion writer Howard Swint has won West Virginia's 2nd District Democratic primary for the chance to take on U.S. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito in November.
Swint beat out IT specialist Dugald Brown and casino slot machine technician William McCann in Tuesday's primary.
The Charleston Democrat was the only candidate with experience running a campaign. He lost the nomination for the 2nd District seat to Erik Wells in 2004 and to Bob Wise in 1996.
Swint will face the Republicans' most formidable candidate in Capito. He has blamed Capito and her colleagues on the House Financial Services Committee for failing to prevent the recession.
Capito defeated two Republican primary opponents to seek a seventh term in Washington.
