CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- U.S. Rep. Shelley Moore Capito has won a rare Republican primary challenge as she seeks her seventh term in Washington.

Capito defeated state Del. Jonathan Miller and Elkins artist and campground operator Michael Davis on Tuesday to capture her party's nomination for the 2nd District seat. She will face the winner of a three-way Democratic primary in November.

Davis had said he was compelled to run by a deep concern for the health of the environment, while evangelical state legislator Miller had said God told him to run. Miller gave up his state House seat to challenge Capito.

Neither could match Capito's name recognition and deep campaign pockets.

Capito says she'll fight to dismantle the federal health care overhaul and challenge the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
