Former deputy Steve DeWeese took home 55 percent of the vote. He is from Scott Depot. He served as a deputy in the county for 20 years.

He was up against Budd Lett, who is from Fraizers Bottom.

DeWeese takes over for current sheriff Mark Smith. Smith has served two limits which is the maximum allowed in West Virginia.
