UPDATE: Scioto County Judge Pleads Guilty to Drunk Driving

JACKSON, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Scioto County Common Pleas Court Judge William T. Marshall has pleaded guilty to drunk driving.

In January, the Ohio Highway Patrol arrested and cited Marshall, 56, of Wheelersburg, for operating a vehicle under the influence after crashing his car.

A patrol spokesperson said Marshall was driving on State Route 140 in Jackson County, Ohio when his car went off the road, hit an embankment and overturned.

Marshall was not hurt in the single-vehicle crash. Troopers gave Marshall a field sobriety test and he was arrested for misdemeanor OVI.

On Friday, Marshall pleaded guilty to misdemeanor 1st offense OVI in Jackson County Municipal Court, according to court records.

Marshall was sentenced to 90 day in jail, 87 of which were suspended. He was also given 5 months community service, his driver’s license suspended for 6 months and he was ordered to pay a fine and court costs.

Court records also show that a failure to control charge was dismissed.

JACKSON, Ohio (WSAZ) -- The drunk driving case against a Scioto County Common Pleas Court judge was continued Thursday.

On Saturday, the Ohio Highway Patrol arrested and cited William T. Marshall, 56, of Wheelersburg, for operating a vehicle under the influence after crashing his car.

A patrol spokesperson said Marshall was driving on State Route 140 in Jackson County, Ohio when his car went off the road, hit an embankment and overturned.

Marshall was not hurt in the single-vehicle crash. Troopers gave Marshall a field sobriety test and he was arrested for misdemeanor OVI.

Marshall was taken to the Jackson Post were he was given a breath test that found his blood alcohol level was 0.22, according to spokesperson.

Marshall’s hearing in Jackson Municipal Court on Thursday was continued after Judge Mark Musick rescued himself. Judge Jerry Dumm of Circleville was then appointed to hear the case, according to court records. No hearing date was set Thursday.

Judge Marshall told the Portsmouth paper that he was humiliated and that the incident was stupidity on his part.

JACKSON, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A judge from Scioto County, Ohio has found himself on the other side of the law.

The Ohio Highway Patrol says William T. Marshall, 56, of Wheelersburg, was arrested and cited for operating a vehicle under the influence after crashing his car on Saturday.

Marshall is a Scioto County Circuit Court Judge.

OHP Spokesperson Lt. Anne Ralston tells WSAZ.com that Marshall was driving on State Route 140 in Jackson County, Ohio Saturday afternoon when his car went off the road, hit an embankment and overturned.

Marshall was not hurt in the single-vehicle crash. Lt. Ralston says after arriving on the scene, troopers gave Marshall a field sobriety test and he was arrested for misdemeanor OVI.

At that point, Marshall was taken to the Jackson Post were he was given a breath test that found his blood alcohol level was 0.22, according to Ralston.

Marshall is scheduled to appear in Jackson Municipal Court on January 17.

WSAZ.com has called Judge Marshall for a comment on the incident, but there has been no response at this time.
