UPDATE: Voters Turn Out for Several Races in Jackson County, Ohio

JACKSON, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Several races were decided Tuesday night throughout Jackson County in the primary election.

According to unofficial returns in the Jackson Treasurer's race, John T. Evans was the winner. He received 121 votes, compared to incumbent challenger Tom Perry who received 108.

In the Council at Large race, Eric G. Brown was the top vote-getter with 146 votes. Challengers Loretta Jones and Marva J. Colby received 128 and 98 votes, respectively.

In the Ward 1 through Ward 4 Council races, the candidates ran unopposed.

The Village of Coalton Expense Tax Levy passed with 62 votes, while 37 voted against it. The Village of Coalton Street Lighting Levy also passed with the same count.

In Wellston, 363 voted for the Cemetery Levy, while 187 voted against it.

JACKSON, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Residents in several Jackson County, Ohio communities are going to the polls Tuesday to nominate city officials and vote on local levies.

In the City of Jackson, the primary races include Treasurer, Council At Large and Council Ward 1.

In Wellston, a cemetery levy is the only race on the ballot.

In the Village of Coalton, there are two levies, current operating expenses and street lights, on the ballot.

There are no county-wide races on the ballot.

Polls close at 7:30 p,m.
