CATLETTSBURG, Ky (WSAZ) -- In the Kentucky state races, the 98th House was a primary blowout.

Tanya Pullin took 75 percent of the vote, winning the Democratic nomination.

Many thought this would be a much closer race. The margin was bigger than some thought because 24-year-old first time candidate Tyler Murphy ran an aggressive organized campaign.

Celebrating in downtown Greenup, Pullin, who's from South Shore, has served six two-year terms in Frankfort. In 2007, she was appointed chairman of the veterans, military affairs and public safety committee.
She's won awards for supporting small businesses and tells us in her next term, she has three priorities -- jobs, jobs and more jobs.

Her sponsored legislation includes building and repairing natural gas pipelines and more broadband deployment. And she's very proud of work to help veterans and firefighters and volunteer fire departments.

With no Republican on the primary slate -- barring a win in November by a write-in candidate -- Pullin, who calls herself a true public servant, will begin her seventh term in office.

In the commonwealth attorney's race for Boyd County, incumbent David Justice won the Democratic nomination -- defeating Ashland attorney Roger Hall. The Democrat was elected to the post in 2006.

Justice takes great pride in making the prosecution system more streamlined and efficient by having his office -- rather than the county attorney -- handle criminal cases from the very beginning. And the incumbent says the number of plea bargains in tough criminal cases has dropped considerably.

Again, with no Republican on the ballot -- barring a November write in candidate victory -- Justice begins his second six-year term as Boyd County’s state prosecutor.
