CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) -- Four people are dead including two described by authorities as innocent bystanders in an early morning shooting in Clarksburg.

Harrison County Prosecutor Jack Shaffer says a drug deal went wrong about 4:30 a.m. Friday in a neighborhood known for drug activity.

Shaffer would not say if a suspect is in custody. Shaffer instead says investigators expect no more activity from the individual responsible and the public is not in danger.

Police are not identifying any of those killed.

The Exponent Telegram reports that the bystanders were a father and son who were delivering the Clarksburg newspaper. The paper identified them as Fred and Freddy Swiger, contract employees for about 30 years.

A lifelong Harrison County resident, Shaffer could not recall an event in his area with so many victims.
