UPDATE 1/28/13 @ 3:30 p.m.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Huntington Police say the shooting of a 17-year-old girl Saturday night is drug related.

The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. at the intersection of 19th Street and West 5th Avenue.

The teen was shot three times in the upper body, with one of the shots being in the head area.

Lt. John Williams says the girl was armed with a gun at the time of the shooting, but didn’t fire her weapon.

Williams says the suspects appear to be young teens that have some connection to the victim.

“This was between individuals that knew each other. This wasn't just a random act where someone just ran up and shot an innocent victim that was just walking down the street," Williams said.

Police are not sure if the two suspects are from this area. Williams says the girl is not facing any charges at this time.

Because she is a juvenile, police are not releasing her name.

She remains in a Huntington hospital.
