UPDATE 4/7/13 @ 10:25 p.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) --As hundreds of family, friends and complete strangers poured into the Municipal Auditorium Sunday for the memorial service of Shain and David Gandee one thing was clear: you didn't have to personally know Shain or his uncle David to want to say goodbye.

“He's one of those good guys in life you hardly ever meet in life, he deserves people to come and see him,” said Robert Davis of Dunbar.

The reality TV star, his uncle and friend Donald Myers were found dead April 1st in Shain's Ford Bronco.

The sudden death sent shock waves through his Sissonville community and with his fans nation wide.

To some at Sunday’s service their only connection to the Gandees was the show in which Gandee starred MTV’s BUCKWILD.

“It was a good show, just young people having fun and there ain’t nothing wrong with that,” said Lovisa Epperley of Cabin Creek.

Others at the funeral considered the Gandees family.

“I drove 23.5 hours to come back and mourn the loss of Shain and David, “ said Matthew Harper who drove from Austin, Texas.

Police were on hand directing traffic away from the funeral and escorting the procession.

Donald Myers' funeral was held Saturday. He was 27 years old. Deputies say he was a close friend of Shain and David.

UPDATE 4/7/13 @ 2:55 p.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Family and friends in West Virginia are saying goodbye to "BUCKWILD" reality TV star Shain Gandee.

Hundreds wearing camouflage filed past two closed coffins Sunday at the Charleston Municipal Auditorium.

A private burial was to follow later for the 21-year-old from Sissonville and his uncle, David Gandee.

The Gandees and another man were found dead April 1 inside a vehicle partially submerged in a mud pit near Shain's home near Sissonville.

Autopsies determined all three died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Police say the muffler was below the surface and that mud covered the passenger side.

A slideshow of family photos focused Shain's off-camera life, showing him as a uniformed pee wee football player, in a tuxedo for prom, graduating high school, kissing brides and holding babies.

UPDATE 4/4/13
SISSONVILLE, W.Va. (AP) -- MTV says production crews were not with a young star of the reality show "BUCKWILD" when he died over Easter weekend and hadn't filmed him since earlier in the week.

Twenty-one-year-old Shain Gandee was found dead Monday in his SUV near Sissonville, along with two passengers.

Autopsies determined that all three died of carbon monoxide poisoning, possibly caused by the vehicle's tailpipe being submerged in mud. That could have allowed the invisible gas to fill the vehicle's cabin.

MTV spokesman Jake Urbanski said Wednesday it will be at least a few weeks before producers and cast members decide whether to continue shooting season two.

For now, he says, everyone is focused on supporting Gandee's friends and family.

Also killed were his 48-year-old uncle, David Gandee, and 27-year-old Donald Robert Myers.

UPDATE 4/2/13 @ 3:30 p.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Authorities in West Virginia say a star of the MTV reality show "BUCKWILD" and two passengers all died of carbon monoxide poisoning.

Twenty-one-year-old Shain Gandee, his uncle and another passenger were found dead Monday. Gandee's 1984 Ford Bronco was stuck in a mud hole, its tail pipe submerged. It's possible the gas could have filled the cabin because of the clogged exhaust pipe.

The Kanawha County Sheriff's Department says autopsies completed Tuesday confirmed the three men died from the gas.

Their deaths have been ruled accidental.

The victims' bodies have been released to funeral homes, but no arrangements have yet been announced.

Shooting for the second season of the show set around Sissonville and Charleston has been suspended.

UPDATE 4/1/13 @ 11 p.m.
KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Sissonville community was left reeling from grief Monday after the death of MTV's "Buckwild" star Shain Gandee and two other men.

Gandee's body was found inside a Ford Bronco alongside those of his uncle, David Gandee, and their friend Donald Myers.

Investigators say the vehicle was partially submerged in deep mud with the exhaust pipe completely covered.

"I'm kind of in shock ... it's not real," neighbor Swanna Frampton said. "I didn't expect this to happen. [Shain] was so full of life."

Frampton says she knew the reality star since he was about 5-years-old and is close with his family.

"His mom kept staring at his picture and his dad was all to pieces," she said. "Because he's lost his son and his brother both."

Bernon Thaxton says David and Shain were his cousins, and that he'll miss their fun-loving spirits.

"They were just happy-go-lucky fellows... the best people in the world," he said. "It breaks my heart, you know, it hasn't really sunk in."

Neighbors say Shain's new found fame wouldn't take him away from the ones he loved or the place he called home -- a place they say will never be the same.

"It's a loss and an emptiness that's going to take a long time to heal," Frampton said.

Since the success of "Buckwild," Shain had been making public appearances the past few months.

Saturday he helped his cousin Ashley Lewis promote the grand opening of her new general store in Crown City, Ohio.

Lewis says people came from as far as Texas to meet and get their picture taken with him.

Lewis says since his death, the family has gotten thousands of Facebook messages from fans across the country, even from Canada and Mexico.

"It makes me feel blessed that, this many people in the world, they believed in him,” Lewis said. “They enjoyed his show, just his perception of life and the way he lived it."

The show was criticized as promoting irresponsible behavior, behavior that may have played a role in what led to his early death.

However, Lewis says even now, she wouldn't have wanted Shain to live his life any other way, cameras or not.

"I don't think anyone who knew Shain would want him to change anything about himself,” she said. “That's why they loved him, because they perceived him as being Shain and being himself."

Investigators are trying to determine what caused the tragedy.

All three bodies have been sent to the medical examiner for an autopsy.
