KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A convicted felon with a valid hunting license was pulled over Monday in the Sissonville area because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt, Kanawha County Sheriff's deputies say.
In addition to having felony convictions, Walter Hamrick of Sissonvile wasn't supposed to be driving
Deputies say Hamrick lost his license 13 years ago for a couple of reasons, including unpaid citations.
Inside the car were 8-point deer antlers and a rifle. A background check revealed Hamrick had felony convictions.
Hamrick faces a misdemeanor charge for having the gun, while being a convicted felon.
WSAZ.com reached out to the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources late Monday night to see how Hamrick had a valid hunting license. As soon as we get a response, we will pass it along.
