ELLIOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- An investigation is underway following a shooting involving an Elliott County Sheriff’s Deputy.
The incident happened during a domestic dispute call at a residence on Glen Carter Road in Sandy Hook about 1 a.m. Tuesday.
Kentucky State Police say 39-year-old Jamie Roseberry was reported to be under the influence of drugs and had made threats to kill his wife.
Troopers say Elliott County Sheriff Deputies responded to the scene and informed Roseberry that he was under arrest. Investigators say Roseberry then brandished a knife and approached the deputy in an aggressive manner. The deputy drew his gun and shot Roseberry twice in the chest.
Roseberry was airlifted to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington where he was listed in serious condition Wednesday afternoon.
At the request of the Elliott County Sheriff, Kentucky State Police are investigating the shooting.
State Police are not releasing the name of the deputy involved in the shooting.
