Detroit Man Arrested Following Shots Fired Call

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) --Police responding to a shots fired call have arrested a man from Detroit on a gun charge.

Huntington Police were called to the 1200 block of 26th Street just after 1 a.m.

According to a news release, after arriving on the scene, they found the home at 1227 26th Street had been hit by approximately 10 gunshots.

Police say during the search of the residence, they found a man hiding in the back yard.

They say Clyde Sharnell Bridges, 40, of Detroit, was carrying a considerable amount of cash.

Inside the home, a handgun was found along with evidence of drugs, according to the release.

According to the criminal compliant, Bridges had keys to the front door of the house in his possession.

Bridges was charged with being a felon in possession of a handgun, after police says he was linked to those items.

Police say the previous conviction is out of Michigan.

Bridges reportedly told officers he had nothing to do with the shooting and he was heading back to Michigan to go home.

Police also say a vehicle was struck several times by gunfire as it passed in front of the residence at the time 911 call came in.

No injuries reported and the vehicle was towed to HPD for processing. Police say at this time they do not know if the vehicle had any role in the incident

According to the release, two neighboring homes were also hit by gunfire.
