CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The danger of extreme cold was illustrated in a Charleston neighborhood where an elderly woman fell outside her home.
It happened along Nectrin Drive. Worried neighbors called police after not seeing the woman for a while.
A trooper on Tuesday found the woman had fallen in her carport and couldn't get inside. He had to provide first aid and use his jacket to keep the woman warm.
When she made it to the hospital, her body temperature was only 64 degrees.
The woman is still in the hospital recovering.
