The homeowner tells WSAZ.com that he and his wife were camping when the fire started. He says an electrical problem with too many things plugged into a surge protector may have started the fire.
Firefighters have not said what started the fire.
A neighboring house suffered minor heat damage from the fire.
Dispatchers received a call about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday about the fire at a home on Route 75 at Donna Heights, which is located about four miles from Lavalette.
