Former Police Officer Arrested in Department Break-in

RICHWOOD, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A former Richwood Police officer was arrested Tuesday on multiple charges, including allegedly breaking into the evidence room of the Richwood Police Department, according to information from West Virginia State Police.

Gerald Paul Tinney Jr., 42, of Craigsville, W.Va., is charged with breaking and entering, entering without breaking, and delivery of a controlled substance.

The break-in happened Dec. 26 of last year, and about 30 hydrocodone pills were stolen.

Tinney was arraigned in Nicholas County Magistrate Court and taken to the Central Regional Jail.

A second arrest is expected in the case.
