UPDATE: Gilmer County Rocked by 3rd Earthquake in a Month

GILMER COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Another earthquake has been reported in Gilmer County, West Virginia.

This is the third report in the past month.

According tot he USGS, the 2.6 magnitude earthquake happened just after 7 a.m.

The epicenter was about eight miles southwest of Glenville.

GLENVILLE, W.Va. (AP) -- The Glenville area has been shaken by another minor earthquake.

The U.S. Geological Survey reports that a magnitude-2.8 earthquake occurred at 2:09 a.m. Tuesday. The epicenter was 7 miles south-southwest of Glenville.

A Gilmer County 911 dispatcher says there were no reports of damage.

It's the second minor earthquake in the area in less than two weeks. A magnitude-2.7 earthquake occurred on July 20. Its epicenter was less than a mile southwest of Glenville.




GLENVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The United States Geological Survey reported a weak earthquake in Central West Virginia.

It happened just after 7:30 a.m. Saturday near Glenville in Gilmer County.

The U.S.G.S. says the quake registered a 2.7 on the Richter Scale.

911 dispatchers in Gilmer County tell WSAZ.com, they got a couple of calls from neighbors who say they felt the vibrations from the quake but there have been no reports of any damage.
