CLAY COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Hundreds of people came out for a candlelight vigil for a fallen trooper and another who is in critical condition.
Corporal Marshall Bailey was shot and killed Tuesday night.
The large crowd that filled the space in front of the Clay County Courthouse sang “Amazing Grace,” prayed, and lit candles as the sun went down.
They prayed for the other shooting victims including Bailey’s fellow trooper Eric Workman, who was left clinging to life.
Pastor Gary Drake with the Clay First Baptist Church says Bailey was well-known and respected in the tight-knit community, and his loss is causing enormous pain.
“They’re hurting,” he said. “This whole community is hurting.”
