KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Sheriff's deputies are searching for a man accused of shooting another man in the arm.

It happened about 4:15 a.m. on Newhouse Branch Road near Charleston.

Deputies say Chad Green, 36, was shot in his left arm, and the bullet passed all the way through his arm.

Green was treated at the scene, but refused to be taken to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Witnesses tell deputies that a man in a white Chevrolet S-10 arrived and asked if anybody had seen his girlfriend. When he was told no, he drove off.

That's when he's accused of firing several shots toward the garage he was leaving. One of the bullets hit Green.

"It's very scary knowing it's that close because that's just right over the hill from us," said Ann Sowards.

Deputies say they have a person of interest and other strong leads.

"My neighbors are all talking now that we gotta be on alert because we don't want a random shooting up here," said Tim Lloyd.
