SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a Virginia man in a rafting accident in West Virginia.
Reports say that 45-year-old Darrin Rennee of Chesapeake, Va., was ejected from a commercial raft near Lower Mash rapids on the Lower Gauley River on Saturday.
Authorities say Rennee swam briefly and was pulled back into the raft. He lost consciousness shortly afterward and was taken by helicopter to a Summersville hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The body was sent to the state medical examiner for an autopsy.
