UPDATE: Rider Hospitalized after Motorcycle Crash

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A person was taken to the hospital after a crash involving a motorcycle in Charleston.

The accident happened about 9 a.m. near the intersection of Thayer Street MacCorkle Avenue in Kanawha City.

Police say a car was traveling west on MacCorkle Avenue when the driver tried to make a left turn onto Thayer Street and was hit by a motorcycle traveling in the eastbound lanes.

The rider was thrown from the motorcycle. He was taken to the hospital with leg injuries.

The eastbound lanes of MacCorkle Avenue were closed for nearly an hour until the road reopened.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Emergency crews are on the scene of a motorcycle crash on MacCorkle Avenue in Charleston.

The accident happened about 9 a.m. near the intersection of Thayer Street.

Dispatchers say the motorcycle rider hit a stop sign and a car.

It is unclear how badly the rider has been hurt.

The eastbound lanes of the roadway are closed.
