Police Chase Ends in Crash

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A police chase ends with the driving crashing his car and then taking off on foot.

Huntington Police say the incident began Saturday evening when officers tried to pull over a driver in the 1600 block of Buffington Avenue.

Instead the driver took off, heading west on 6th Avenue where he crashed at 14th Street, after he hit a stop sign and fire hydrant. He then took off on foot, but was quickly arrested.

Police arrested Anthony Stearns, 45, of Huntington. Stearns is charged with fleeing while DUI, 3rd offense DUI, driving on n a revoked license for DUI, destruction of property, and leaving the scene.

The passenger was also arrested after police say they found drugs on him.
