CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Pools in Kanawha County will close earlier this year due to the county's new school calendar.
Students in Kanawha County start back to school on August 9 causing the pools to adjust their schedules.
The last day Coonskin, Shawnee and Pioneer pools will be open during the week is August 9. However, the pools will remain open during regular hours on Saturday and Sunday through Labor Day weekend.
WSAZ.com has also learned that the city of Charleston will look at its schedule because once school starts the pools will lose some of its lifeguards. A spokesperson with city's parks and recreation says most likely the pools in Charleston will also close a little earlier this year, but no decision has been made yet.
