Power Outages and Storm Damage Reported in Kanawha Valley

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Severe weather swept through the Kanawha Valley with a vengence Thursday afternoon.

A huge burst of thunder was followed by pouring rains and large hail.

American Electric Power is reporting more than 2,000 homes in Kanawha County without power.

There are a few hundred reported in each Lincoln, Boone & Wayne Counties.

The Kanawha City area of Charleston was hit hard by storms.

A huge tree fell in the front yard of a home on Washington Avenue. Several other yards in that area had all sorts of storm damage.

Reports of large hail were made in the Louden Heights area near the Kanawha State Forest.
