MILTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – SUPERVALU announced Monday it’s closing the company’s distribution center in Milton.
A company spokesperson tells WSAZ.com that the roughly 90 employees will be out of a job when the facility closes at the end of April.
The spokesperson says the company’s distribution center in New Stanton/ Pittsburgh, Pa. will now handle the Milton operations.
According to a news release from the company, SUPERVALU regularly reviews its business in order to maximize efficiency.
The company goes on to say that as a result of excess capacity at the 771,000 square foot New Stanton/Pittsburgh facility, SUPERVALU is able to effectively consolidate these two operations and better position the company for future growth of its distribution business in the region.
The decision will not impact any SUPERVALU independent retail customers.
