UPDATE: Power Outage Numbers Continue to Drop

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- AEP crews have been working to restore power to thousands in the Mountain State following Thursday night's storm.

As of Saturday evening there were fewer than 1,200 customers without power.

In Wayne County, there remains 712 without power, and 481 in Cabell County.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- AEP continues to make progress in restoring power to thousands of customers in the area after Thursday's storm.

Thousands have been without power since early Friday morning.

At one point, AEP says there were more than 32,000 in the state without power.

AEP says some of the hardest hit areas are in Cabell and Wayne counties. Power is expected to be restored in those areas late Saturday or Sunday.

Below are the latest outage numbers, as of 9:45 a.m., according to AEP's website.

West Virginia:
Cabell: 1,412
Wayne: 1,897
Putnam: 111
