HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Eight people were arrested inside an apartment in Huntington after police say they found drugs and guns in that apartment.
The arrests were made Saturday evening in the 2400 block of 3rd Avenue.
Police say they went to the apartment looking for a suspect wanted for murder. When they arrived at the door, they heard a disturbance inside, according to the criminal complaint.
Officers say when they knocked on the door, they were greeted by a man with a gun. They also smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the apartment.
"The person who answered the door, greeted us with a firearm," Huntington Police Officer Alex Marshall said.
After obtaining a search warrant, offices say they found 25 grams of heroin, other drugs, two guns and $2,000 in cash.
Police arrested Damon Wilson, 23, of Detroit, Dontay Joseph, 18, of Baker, La., Chris Reed, 23, of Detroit, Jamal Chambers, 26, of Detroit, Ashley Wayson, 28, of Huntington, Tony Williams, 23, of Detroit, Javonte Frazer, 21, of Baker, La., and Christopher Minton, 20, of Detroit.
"I'm glad 'boosie' came home," Javonte Frazer said. "We will be bonding out real soon. We do this."
"They can't hold us for long," another man said.
All are charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Minton also faces a second count of drug possession.
Chambers is also wanted out of Detroit on a parole violation.
Williams and Wayson also have outstanding warrants out of Huntington on drug charges.
"They didn't seem remorseful whatsoever," Marshall said.
