UPDATE 9/21/13 @ 6:00 p.m.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- What police thought was an armed robbery turned out to just be a hoax.
It happened Friday night at Barney's Sports Bar on Bigley Avenue.
Police arrested Ingrid Taylor and Dustin Crouch.
Officers say Taylor was working behind the cash register when her boyfriend's son, Crouch, came in with a toy gun demanding cash.
Police say the motive was money.
Because this was an inside job, Taylor and Crouch were both charged with grand larceny. They are in jail tonight.
They say the suspect walked into Barney's Sports Bar along Bigley Avenue about 10:30 a.m., drew out a gun and demanded cash.
Police say two customers and an employee were inside at the time.
They say the suspect ran off after the employee handed over some cash.
"Cooperation with an armed subject is always best," Lt. Steve Cooper said. "Typically they just want to get money or an item and get away. Unless it's a kidnapping situation, which we do not advise that you comply."
Alex James was walking his dogs near the bar just minutes after the robbery happened.
"It's a bit unnerving, I must admit," he said. "I think I'm going to be on the lookout a lot more now."
If you know anything about the robbery, you're asked to call Charleston Police.
