CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Melted siding, burnt wood and a trashed utility trailer – all signs fire investigators are calling suspicious.
Mary Watson saw the flames about 3:30 Sunday morning and called 911.
"It was so, so high -- oh gosh -- I thought the whole house was on fire at first," said Watson.
From Watson’s front porch, on Charleston’s West Side, you can see the evidence and remnants left behind. And she thinks it’s arson.
"I came out to the door because I heard some arguing and fussing when I shouldn't have -- but, they were down there -- so when it started they started running away," said Watson.
Watson has lived in the same house for nearly 40 years and says scenes like this are becoming all too familiar.
"This used to be a very good neighborhood -- no trouble at all. We're having an awful lot of fights and arguing and people starting fires," said Watson.
Investigators plan on looking deeper to see if the fire was arson.
Meanwhile, Watson is fearful her house could be next.
