UPDATE: 2/1/13 @ 10 p.m.
LAVALETTE, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- An elderly woman’s life may have been saved after a Frontier Communications employee alerted her that her home was on fire.

The employee, Tim Pfeiffer, was making a run on Patty Hollow Road in Lavalette when he saw flames coming from a house.

"I was sent out here for a tree on a line,” Pfeiffer said. “I just got the call five or ten minutes prior to this."

Sue Ellen Gue says she was listening to a religious program when Pfeiffer came to her door.

"The guy said ‘Your house is on fire. You have to leave,’” she said. “I said ‘Oh my goodness.’"

Pfeiffer got Gue and her dog out safely.

He serves in the National Guard and has had rescue training.

"Military experience just kind of kicked in when I saw the smoke and fire,” Pfeiffer said. “I was worried about her safety."

While she waited for family, Pfeiffer let Gue stay out of the cold in his cab.

"I just thank God she and the dog are fine," he said.

Gue believes this Frontier worker was sent up her hollow for her.

"I was just so thankful God sent somebody," she said. "I just thank God I'm alive."

Gue is now staying with family.

There’s no word on what started that fire.
