KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A teenager who went missing after a six-car crash has been found safe.

Deputies tell WSAZ.com Lindsey Bledsoe, 17, of Scott Depot, is back with family Monday night.

She was found on Lee Street in Charleston by a Kanawha County Sheriff's deputy.

Her mother was on a desperate search for the teenager, who was involved in the crash and then ran from the scene.

Deputies say the girl was speeding along Route 817 near St. Albans about 11:30 p.m. Sunday when she lost control and smashed into a pickup truck, causing a chain reaction. She ran away from the accident and wasn't seen until Monday evening.

Lindsey is a senior at Winfield High School. Her mother was pleading for her safe return.

"We love her, we want her to come home," mother Denise Stallard said. "This is very surprising, very out of character for Lindsey."

Lindsey's red Volkswagen Beetle is nothing more than a pile of mangled metal, melted mirrors and seats left singed. A series of cars crashed like dominoes in the lot at the Impact Body Shop near St. Albans.

The owner of the shop says Lindsey's car smashed into a truck, causing it to skid and crash into several other cars. The truck landed on its top, and a telephone pole was also pushed. Lindsey's car caught fire and the next thing witnesses saw was the teenager jump out and run off.

"I think she may be afraid that I'm angry with her or that I may be upset with the accident, and I'm not at all," Stallard said. "I just want her to come home."

Lindsey's mother was on an all-out search.

Despite the six busted up cars and the nearly $50,000 in damage, the biggest concern was for the teenager's safety and her mother's peace of mind.

There was no word if charges will be filed in connection with the crash and Lindsey running from the scene. Keep clicking on WSAZ.com for the latest information.

The accident was reported about 11:30 p.m. Sunday along Route 817 at the Impact Body Shop in St. Albans.

The owner of that body shop tells WSAZ.com the teenager, Lindsey Bledsoe, was involved in an accident where four cars were totaled and two others damaged.

The mother of Bledsoe, Denise Stallard, tells WSAZ.com the family has been out searching for her all night in fear she's hurt and too scared about the accident to come home. Stallard says she went to a salvage yard where Bledsoe's car was towed after the accident to look for clues on where she might have gone.

The owner of the body shop estimates the damage of Sunday night's crash to total between $40,000 and $50,000.

The Kanawha County Sheriff's Department is investigating the accident.

Stallard released her daughter's name and picture to WSAZ.com in hopes of finding her.
