PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A man caught texting while driving on Route 817 near the Interstate 64 interchange led troopers to a meth bust, West Virginia State Police say.
Troopers say they pulled over a pickup truck with six people inside Tuesday night. They say they noticed the driver texting, and he had four people in the bed of the truck.
The trooper at the scene says he could smell marijuana as he walked toward the truck. Troopers searched the truck and found materials to make meth and some drug residue.
Tammy McDaniel, Jason Davis, Melissa Davis, David Burdette and Tyron Cummings all were arrested.
A 15-year-old girl was also in the truck, but troopers say she was just trying to get a ride home.
