LINCOLN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Two men face charges after a police chase late Monday night on W.Va. 10 that led to a West Virginia State Police cruiser being hit, troopers say.
State Police say Chad Johnson, 33, was speeding on W.Va. 10 in Lincoln County. When troopers tried to pull Johnson over, they say he took off and hit a trooper's cruiser.
Johnson is being held on fleeing, obstructing, no insurance, improper registration, driving on suspended or revoked license, assault and battery on an officer without weapons, speeding and leaving the scene of an accident -- all misdemeanors.
A male passenger in the car from Kentucky faces two misdemeanor charges; he was not jailed.
They say the driver was speeding on W.Va. 10. When troopers tried to pull the car over, the driver took off -- hitting a cruiser in the process.
The trooper wasn't hurt.
The driver eventually crashed through a fence before trying to escape on foot.
