HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Two people were on their way to jail Monday after Huntington Police say they found narcotics in their room at a local motel.
The arrests were made at the Coach's Inn along Washington Avenue in West Huntington.
Inside the room, investigators say they found approximately 10 grams of crack cocaine, cell phones, and various pieces of drug paraphernalia.
Police say Tarez Shavers, 18, just got out of jail Sunday. Shavers is headed back to jail after being charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
Ronesha Martin, 23, was arrested and charged with felony conspiracy to deliver drugs and misdemeanor maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of distributing drugs.
Police say both people are from Detroit.
Huntington Police Sgt. E. L Blackburn said Monday’s arrests came as a result of a tip, which allowed officers to obtain a search warrant for one of the rooms.
Blackburn said the arrests are proof that citizens are fed up.
"We hope it does send a message that we're tired of this in Huntington; everyone is tired of it. Our citizens are calling in on our tip line. We get a lot of information from there," Blackburn said.
The arrests are part of "Operation: River to Jail." campaign.
More arrests and charges are pending at this time.
