UPDATE: Driver Dies After Head-on Crash; Name Released

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- We now know the names of a woman killed in a crash in Kanawha County.

The accident happened about 8:35 p.m. Wednesday along U.S. Route 119 in Clendenin near the Kanawha-Roane county line.

Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies say Gerlethia Mason of Garner, NC was traveling north on Route 119 lost control and hit another vehicle heading south, head-on.

The southbound driver who was killed in the crash was 53-year-old Ramona Abbott of Walton, WV.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A person has died after a head-on crash in Kanawha County.

The accident happened about 8:35 p.m. Wednesday along U.S. Route 119 in Clendenin near the Kanawha-Roane county line.

Kanawha County Sheriff's Deputies say a driver traveling north on Route 119 lost control and hit another vehicle heading south, head-on.

The driver in the southbound lanes was killed. Deputies are not releasing the victim's name at this time.

The other driver was taken to the hospital. No word on that person's injuries.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Two women were seriously hurt Wednesday night in a two-car crash on U.S. 119 near the Park and Ride in the Clendenin area, crews at the scene tell WSAZ.com.

The crash happened just after 9 p.m. on Spencer Road at the Kanawha/Roane County line -- not far from Interstate 79. Both cars ended up on a nearby hillside.

One of the women hurt told police she lost control while going around a curve, went left of center and hit the oncoming car head-on.

Both women were taken to the hospital.

One was listed in serious condition, and the other was in serious condition.

Police say alcohol does not appear to be a factor and said wet, slick roads may have been to blame
