Vehicle Hits Building in South Charleston, Driver Hospitalized

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Emergency crews responded to a crash in South Charleston where a vehicle hit a building.

The crash was reported about 8:30 a.m. in the 45-hundred block of MacCorkle Avenue in South Charleston.

Police tell WSAZ.com a SUV was headed west on MacCorkle Avenue when the driver attempted to make a right hand turn on McDonald Avenue. Police say the driver of a box truck didn't see the SUV and hit the back of it and then hit the side of the Family Allergy and Asthma Clinic on the corner of MacCorkle Avenue and McDonald Avenue.

The driver of the SUV was taken to the hospital. No word on the driver's condition. The driver of the box truck was not hurt.

The crash caused severe damage to the Family Allergy and Asthma Clinic.

One westbound lane was closed in the area while emergency crews were on the scene.
