CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Members of the West Virginia Air National Guard are returning to Charleston after being deployed to Afghanistan.

Six Airmen from the 130th Airlift Wing are scheduled to return to Yeager Airport on Wednesday evening.

Officials say the members of the 130th Security Forces Squadron were deployed as security for forces operating in Afghanistan. They were there for about five months.

It is the second group to return in two weeks. Seven Airmen returned from duty in Afghanistan last week.

ORIGINAL STORY 11/22/12
CHARLESTON, W. Va. (WSAZ) -- “He’s going to be here, he’s going to be here,” said Sharon Grant, who was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her son at Charleston’s Yeager Airport on Thanksgiving Day.

Grant and her husband can’t hardly wait as their son, Senior Airman Colin Grant of the 130th Airlift Wing, is finally coming home.

3-year old Taygen Grant is also with them, waiting for her daddy.

"I just can't believe it's actually happening. I have been so nervous and sick. I'm just...I don't know -- he's going to be here and that's all that matters and he's going to be home safe and sound," said Sharon Grant.

Colin has been serving with the 130th Airlift Wing in Afghanistan for the last six months along with a handful of fellow soldiers that are making their homecoming on Thanksgiving.

After, months of waiting and hoping and praying, Sharon spots her son.
.
"I can tell by the walk! Oh my gosh there he is! Oh my! My God I can't believe it! I love you,” said Sharon Grant.

It was an embrace they’ve been waiting six months for.

"I love you, Mom," said Colin Grant.

"I'm tickled to death. My nerves are still going right now. Seeing everybody here -- the Patriot Guard and all of our family and friends here, it's a feeling -- it's indescribable. Finally set back in West-by-God. It's a great feeling, great feeling," Colin Grant said.

The wait is finally over, and hugs abound on this Thanksgiving Day.
