UPDATE: Names Released in I-79 Fatal Crash

BRAXTON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The driver involved in a fatal accident in Braxton County is still in ICU Wednesday recovering from his injuries.

The accident happened Tuesday afternoon along Interstate 79 between Flatwoods and Sutton.

Deputies tell WSAZ.com Derrick Bever, 25, of Summersville, lost control of his vehicle, left the roadway before the car rolled several times. Bever and his passenger, Savannah McKinney, 25, of Summersville, were both thrown from the car.

McKinney was pronounced dead at the scene. As of Wednesday morning, Bever was still listed under evaluation at CAMC General.

Deputies say speed may have played a factor in the crash.

BRAXTON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A woman is dead after a crash on I-79 in Braxton County.

It happened about noon between Flatwoods and Sutton.

Deputies tell WSAZ.com the driver of a car was heading south when they lost control and rolled over three times.

A man and woman were thrown from the car.

The woman died on the scene.

The man was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.

Deputies say speed may have played a role in the crash.

So far no names have been released.
