Woman Found Shot to Death in Mason County; Murder Investigation Underway

UPDATE 8/13/14 @ 6:30 p.m.
MASON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- West Virginia State Police have identified the woman found dead in Letart as 54-year-old Kathy Anderson.

West Virginia State Police Lt. Michael Baylous tells WSAZ.com that during a welfare check, investigators found a woman shot to death inside a home in Letart.

Troopers are looking for her husband, Charles, to question him about her death. They referred to it as a murder investigation.

Neighbors tell WSAZ.com the couple recently separated and have been fighting in recent weeks. Many are stunned.

"Everybody's friendly, everybody waves when you go by, " said Tamara McGraw. "You'd just never think anything like this would happen around here."

Kathy Anderson was last seen Tuesday in Jackson County, West Virginia. That's where a missing persons report was filed Wednesday by her family members.

WVSP say Charles Anderson may be driving a 2008 grey Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab, with West Virginia license plates OHX-820.

If you spot Anderson, do not approach him. Troopers ask that you call 911.

MASON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- West Virginia State Police have identified a person wanted for questioning in this woman's death.

Police are looking for 57-year-old Charles Anderson.

They say he may be armed and dangerous.

Anderson is wanted for questioning after a woman was found dead in her home on Backwaters Drive in Letart Wednesday. Investigators believe she died from a gunshot wound.

The woman was found during a welfare check.

WVSP say Anderson may be driving a 2008 grey Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab, with West Virginia license plates OHX-820.

If you spot Anderson, do not approach him. WVSP ask that you call
911.

MASON COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- West Virginia State Police are investigating a suspicious death in Mason County.

Lt. Michael Baylous, with the West Virginia State Police, tells WSAZ.com investigators found a woman shot to death Wednesday inside a home on Backwaters Drive in Letart during a welfare check.

Lt. Baylous says at the request of a family member they conducted a welfare check and found the woman.

Investigators are still at the scene investigating. No other information is being released at this time.
