WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Investigators say black ice is to blame for crash that killed a driver from Lavalette.
32-year-old Marife Travis died in the single vehicle crash on Beech Fork Road late Friday night.
West Virginia State Police say that Travis lost control of her car after hitting a patch of black ice. Her car then went off the road and into a creek, where it floated for a short distance before sinking.
Troopers say rescue efforts were hindered by the high water in the creek and the location of the crash.
