BOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Two Florida men are behind bars after being caught with drugs.

According to a police report, the Boyd County Sheriff's Department got a report of drug activity in parking lot of the Wal-Mart in Cannonsburg.

When they arrived, they found Robert Apakian and Stanley Silberman sitting in a rental car with a large quantity of prescription pills and cash.

Deputies then searched their hotel room and found more pills and records of transactions.

Both men are now in the Boyd County Detention Center charged with multiple drug violations.

I would like to thank the Sheriff's Office for getting these guys off of our streets! Drugs are like a plague, they affect everyone around the user. It is such a blessing that there are people who truly try to do the right thing. Thank you and Hope you catch more and more!

I hope that this will open up your eyes there is a very big drug problem I have teenagers and a young son and i worry everyday that my kids will be a part of this someday if this is not stopped,I hate that these ppl had kids of there own i wonder about there own children did they see dad doing the deals? That is so sad, these children dont need a life like that.I know that carter co. is doing all that they can here to catch these losers but it just doesnt seem like enough sometimes.

their kids need them home?!!? you've got to be kidding me. i hate this for those children but these men were putting alot of children at risk including their own. grow a backbone and stop making excuses for criminals that are too lazy to earn money by working for it. anyone taking up for these idiots are benefiting financially from the drug money.

You all are just mad because your suppliers got busted! Their family would be smart to keep them away from the children. I for one would not want my children around anyone who used or sold drugs. The drug problem is just getting worse, stiffer laws are needed. The smack on the hand doesn't sting nearly enough!

I live in a small town. It is common knowledge that all the drug dealers and addicts get their pain medication from Florida. I feel that anyone willing to drive to Florida for pain medication is involved in illegal activity regardless of the fact that a family is involved. Their are plenty of mothers and fathers, aunts and uncles, and sisters who are trying to keep the drugs off the streets and out of addicts hands. Remember that these two men are not the only victims here. The rest of community are fighting to keep these drugs off the streets. It is a sad situation. To the family and friends of these men. It is a hard to accept that good people get caught up in drug addiction. These men do not need to be made an example of but the facts are facts. Drugs need to be kept off the streets and away from our community.

Stop trying to justify the actions of drug dealers. Even if they are family they did wrong and the deserve to be in jail. As for having children the children are better off not having there drug dealing father around.

I think the news blew this out of proportion. I believe in innocence till proven guilty. These people have families to and until you know the facts you should not pass judgement!

I DON'T CARE WHO TOLD ON THEM OR HOW THE AREEST CAME ABOUT....I SAY MAKE AN EXAMPLE OF THEM AND PUT THEM AWAY FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE....WAY TO GO SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT....

Alot comes in from other states, but not all. We have dr.s here that do the same thing. We have to take back our community. Turning in the dealers are not helping. If turning them in did any good The dealers on 30th & Central would have been arrested by now! This isn't going to get better until they enforce the law, our plice arrest them only to have them walking the street the next day!

Posted by: I seen them on Mar 25, 2008 at 04:12 PM
I called the 911 when I seen them. They approached me to sell me some. Don't know if anyone else called the law or not, but I did. I have 7 grand kids and I don't want them messed up in this stuff.

Shame on all of your comments below. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Or are you all so over eager for another backwoods lynching. Do not overlook the fact that unfortunately drugs are everywhere. Take a look in the mirror at your own community before blaming another state for your kids and citizens buying and taking drugs! Start by educating your own kids about drugs before you point the finger at Floridians.

I was at walmart that night and 2 KSP cars and 4 or 5 Sheriffs cars I thought Sam walton himself was there ( yes i know hes pasted on)And the car didnt have Fl plates and the plate was from a different state so they had to have been tipped off that theses people had drugs. And if Terry Keelin doesnt deserve the credit who does?

I hope they rot in prison for life, someone very close to me died as a result of these Florida doctors handing out pills like candy. They all need to be put behind bars, not only for the protection of the public, but for their own as well. Greed and overdoses lead to too many young Kentuckians deaths. And most of the robberies and violent crimes I've seen on the news lately have something to do with drugs as well. The drug problem in this country is getting bigger everyday and it needs to be stopped.

Why do you think that the drug dealers need to go all the way to Florida? There is a "Pain" clinic on OH93 north of Ironton that is only open like three days a week. When they are opened, you see people walk in and come back out in about 10 minutes with a wad of prescriptions. The bad thing is that most of the cars have KY license plates. Must be a really good doctor to draw people so far into OH? Open up your eyes people, it is all around us.

It's not a coinsedence that Allegiant Air flights to Florida are running at a 90% occupancy rate at the same time as there has been a huge influx of prescription drugs from Florida to our TriState area. These people can fly down there, go to their doctor, get their drugs, and fly home all in the same day. Probably a $500 round trip, doctor visit and scripts included. They then turn that into about $5000.

This is crazy and i've heard about all these doctors in Florida supplying these drugs and these people are bringing these drugs back here to sell and abuse them. I've heard that these drugs they are getting are xanax, loratab, and a drug called roxy which i have'nt found out what that is yet.The police also need to watch the airports too i heard that people are also paying these kids to fly to Flordia and even paying for there flight there and back. They need to watch the Tri State Airport and Charleston. This is the best way too catch these people whos bringing these drugs back that's killing our families and friends!!!! I pray everyday that they catch these doctors that are killing our family and friends!!!!

i'm glad the Deputy's caught them. but terry keelin does't deserve credit. he picks and choses what judge's bench warrants he want aknowlege exist. i think it is bad that K.S.P. troopers have to be called to do terry keelins job to arrest convicted drug addicts and thieves that he has given a free pass to. just as bad is the commonwealth's attorney david justice who refuses to prosecute the same convicted drug addicted thief when that person was caught with stolen property in thier personal effects while in the boyd county jail. t.k. and d.j. know the case i am writing about S.O. case #06-0082. i doubt this will get posted, because when i called WSAZ newsroom the person i talked to did not ask for my number. so i feel like WSAZ does not like to do stories that put boyd county elected officals in a bad light.

Good job Boyd County Sheriffs officer. But the problem is no one in KY has power in FL. Its a problem that will have to be taken care of by the FL authorities. But good job. might have saved a few peoples lives.
