CANNONSBURG, Ky. (WSAZ) - The Cannonsburg Fire & Rescue team got up early Saturday to practice putting out a house fire.

At around 9 Saturday morning, they began a training session on a home across from the Wal-Mart in Cannonsburg. Several drivers thought it was a real fire and called WSAZ. We checked on it and found out it was one of the many fire drills going on Saturday.

This abandoned home was donated to the fire department by the owner of the property.

Mock disaster drills are also going on Saturday at Yeager Airport in Charleston, WV and in Wurtland, Kentucky at the DuPont Plant.

Send us an e-reporter picture if you are out and see one of these fire training sessions going on.

Great thing for all fire depts to have drills on a regular basis. Seems to me that there are always reports about abandoned houses - waiting to be torn down - why not let the fire depts in the various towns and cities practice on them, instead of letting the houses fall down board by board and be a menace to the community. Would benefit all in each community!
