LOUISA, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A man charged with manslaughter in a fatal car crash has pleaded guilty to the charge.

Reports say that Richard Gussler entered the plea in Lawrence County, Kentucky, Circuit Court on Friday.

Police say Gussler was driving a pickup truck that slammed into the back of a car driven by Paul Justice of Pikeville back in December.

Justice's car was stopped at a red light on Route 23. Joey Kirk of Louisa was killed in the accident. He was a passenger in the car. Justice and another passenger in the car were hurt.

According to the report, Gussler will be sentenced to 10 years in prison on the 2nd degree manslaughter charge and 2 years on a persistent felony offender charge as part of the plea deal.

Gussler’s formal sentencing is set for August 8.
