PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A Kentucky State Police Trooper is off the job following his arrest Sunday night.

A KSP spokesperson says Trooper Timothy Moore has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of an internal investigation, and the outcome a criminal investigation initiated by the Pikeville Police Department.

Kentucky State Police have not released information about the incident, but published reports say that Moore was arrested by Pikeville Police and charged with alcohol intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was later released on bond from the Pike County Detention Center.

The report indicates the arrest followed a concert at the Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center.

Court records show Moore’s next court appearance is set for August 5 in Pike County District Court.

Moore has been with the Kentucky State Police for 10 years. He is currently assigned to the Ashland Post.

Known Tim for a long time and I know that the good he does far outways the bad. He had a desiginated driver [good thing]. Also know that there is friction between Pikevill PD and KSP and obviously Tim was a "home run" in this ballgame. Wish both police agencies would focus on serious crime that is at hand and not on one another.

i would not arrest a person for p.i.and then do it my self.the expo center is the worst thing to ever to be built in the city of pikeville.sell beer and a few feet down the street the courthouse making more profit off the drinkers.and outside the city limits you sell beer you are a bootlegger and took to jail.i remember when it was voted for the money to build the expo over people having water.i would never enter it no matter who they had there.same as the hillbilly days city shut down cant even get in it to pay a bill thats due like insurance.the rest is an expo courthouse and lawyers.thats the city of pikeville ky.

To become a State Trooper you must have a flawless police record but once you are a State Trooper then you get paid vacations for bad behavior? Maybe the old saying is true about if you want to commit the perfect crime you must wear a badge first.

People are too quick too judge when they just hear one side of the story. Why is it that officers get in trouble and the media runs with it like madness. People get arrested every day for alcohol intoxication including, officers, judges, teachers, and the average hard working citizen. Just because he was out drinking and having a good time doesn't make him a murderer or anything. I know if you question about 9 out of 10 people they will say they have left somewhere after drinking alcohol. At least he had the common sense to NOT DRIVE when he left. It would be a whole different story if he had been. The driver was sober. I know if you check out all the facts you will realize that there is a lot more to this story and history behind this Trooper and the arresting officer. Troopers are human and not perfect. Jesus died on the cross for our sins and we all commit sin ever day, just like judging this human for his imperfections! Think about it!

Just to say i known this man from a kid up,i know all of his family, brothers,sisters,mom, and dad, they are a close family. His dad is and old baptist precher, good people. I'am not upholding for what Tim has done, but he is a real nice guy, he just needs to be more in control of his actions when off duty. If he got to party, then it's his business, but he needs to watch out for his seft and not let the drink mess up his future with state police. I just don't won't to see him blow it, i've watched him grow up from a young boy up and he's truly a real good person, he sure had a good god fearing dad, good christian man, and Tim sure had a good up bring in life as for as the rights and wrongs goes. So thank you wsaz for allowing me to comment on this story.

This guy was like many many others I saw when I was at the Poison concert. I'm 42 but not a beer drinker, but if they served wine, I would have had a time about like him and others. Give him a break, he was not even going to drive.

If I read the story right he had a sober driver so why was he taken out of the car? I thought that was the purpose of having a DD. If he was on his own time then he is allowed to be human and if he wants to drink so be it who are we to tell someone just because of their job that they can't do something on their time off. Troopers have a life too they don't wear the uniform 24/7 they are people just like anyone else. Is it not ok for a Dr. to drink when he is not working or a lawyer or the clerk at Wal-Mart? If it don't affect their work then its nothing to me. Good luck Trooper Moore hope how soon your back on the road doing what needs to be done serving and protecting!!

I read the WYMT article, said that the officer was so drunk he could barely walk, and yelled a curse word and other obscenities to the Pikeville officers. Later the officers stopped the car and the trooper refused to talk to them and someone in the back seat flashed the KSP badge at them. They tried to arrest him and he refused to get out of the car and tried to leave. Evidently they had to physically remove him from the car. Not the same story on WYMT I read. Bret's got it going on. Was there and did witness that!

I know he is a officer and he is sworn to up hold the law. He is also human. I am sure he wasn't the only person at that concert that was drinking. He knows that it is against the law to drink and drive. Where is his dd that should have been driving. I don't judge people. But he is innocent until proven guilty.

Susan- Have you ever met Tim? I seriouly doubt it or you wouldn't call him an idiot. He happens to be an educated person who does "Protect and Serve." He or someone just like him has probably helped you out at one time or another and I bet you didn't think they were an idiot then. People like you complain when they see a law enforcement officer driving fast but then complain when they don't get to you quick enough. He is simply just a person like you and he will have his day to tell his side of the story. Don't be so quick to judge Susan, you only have one side of the story.

He was off duty, so what should make his arrest any different than the other ones that happened that night. I was at the Poison Concert and there were other people arrested why aren't they on the news? Everyone makes a choice and we shouldn't say that concerts should be banned because they aren't forcing you to drink! If he was on duty or driving it would be a lot worse. We should just be thankful that he's not that stupid!

You people are being hypocritical. We have been going through the drug prohibition for about 80 years now. How is it working? It's working great. We might as well do it with alcohol and cigarettes. Afterall, if these things were discovered yesterday, they would be illegal today. We have put thousands and thousands of people in jail or in the grave because of drugs. If we are going to have a movement then we need to include all of these evil things and get rid of them at the same time. If we can get all the drinkers and smokers in jail then the big dealers will not have any buyers. It is just like with the drug war. It is up to our government to tell us what we can and cant put into our bodies. Freedom is no longer an option today. We have to save our children.

Daniel, I know police are held to a higher standard. But is it really fair? Perhaps this cop was trying to vent off some pressures from work on his time off. Police do more than write speeding tickets. They have to deal with murderers, rapists, robbers, child molesters, etc. And even worse, they have to deal with the victims of those I mentioned above. You ever try to pull a child out of a crashed vehicle and find out that the child is dead? You ever have to deal with a women who was just raped? You ever have to try to comfort a child who has suffered from sexual abuse or other abuses? You ever have to go tell parents at 2 in the morning that their son or daughter was just killed in a vehicle crash? I'd say not, but cops do. So in their off time they may want to relax too. Perhaps alcohol isn't the best way to relax, but this may have been what happened. Did this officer go to far; maybe so, but he shouldn't be fired for it. And cops don't take people's freedom away. The courts do that.

Mark my words that the arresting PPD officers will be delt more punishment for making the KSP image look bad. Word of advice: If any Pikeville city cops visit ashland and get in trouble then they better not use there badgde for a get out of jail free card. I will bet 50$ that the local yokals of Pikeville will thik twice before arreting another KSP,, specialy when they are about lose there jobs.

Read the story WYMT has on this story, According to them this Officer was in someone else's car and others in the car yelled comments to Pike City Cop's that were standing on the sidewalks as the car went by. This KSP Officer was not even driving, but had been drinking that night on his own time. The friends he was with got cocky and told the Cop's, basically you can't do anything to us because we are with a State Trooper. After what I read, the Pikeville Police really had no reason to pull there car in the first place, the driver was not even drinking. It looks like a case of Pikeville Police pushing there weight around and acting like the,"Untouchables." What they did to him was wrong.But he's gotten a taste of what other's have went though.There has been a lot of trouble within KSP Posts and KSP Pikeville Post and Pike City Police.The FBI should investagate what all has gone on within all these departments. Because there is more than this, they are vol PEOPLES RIGHTS, there BULLY"S!

Jamie, you say police officers should be held more accountable because they are to be role models for our youth? Well, parents are supposed to be role model for their children, more so than a stranger, even if that stranger is a cop. So, when someone breaks the law, if they have kids, then they should be punished more than a single person who breaks the law? Jamie, I think you've overstayed your visit to us, here on Earth. Please depart for your home planet as soon as possible. And as for "Concerned," you are mistaken about the Gallia County Trooper. He was not drunk. The first test on the body came back that he was drunk. But, several minutes before he was killed, witnesses who spoke with him reported that he wasn't drunk, nor had he been drinking. So, another, more intense test was conducted on the body and it came back okay. It seems the first test was reporting the normal process as a body decays. But, that does lead me to wonder how accurate tests are on the average "Joe".

So State police like Teachers are not allowed to have a life outside their jobs.People are too quick to judge!!!! We (public workers) like to go to concerts, listen to music, drink responsibly, and have vacations, but as soon as one goes array then all are BAD!!!!! Please people give us a break, if things keep up there won't be any one wanting to go into these professions, because we are kept under such a close eye if we far******** someone will be there to can it!!! Yes I agree that we must set examples but must we live like NUNS and PRIEST, not that theres anything bad about that job but I did not go to college for 8yrs to have people watching my every move so it can be put on TV news headlines. Trust me this job does not pay enough!!!!!!

If Mr Moore had the charges of alcohol intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest on his record before he applied to the KSP he would have have NEVER been let on the force. I do not think he sould get paid for making the news for being a drunken public servant misfit. I have heard rumors about the boys in blue and seems as if the "roid rage" stories are more than true.

No Trooper killed anyone while drunk in Kentucky. One trooper did hit a family and injure them and he is in prison. The Ohio Troopers were not drunk. After someone is burnt up (like he was) the human body produces alcohol. Unless you are a chemist shut your mouth. Also poison does not sing about drugs.

Please dont jump to conclusions that Tim is guilty befoe his day in court. He is a great guy, a dear friend, and devoted Trooper. WE are only hearing one side of this. Let him have his day in court. Our police chief here in our city was recently arested fo DUI, and was exonerated of all charges after his court appearance. Tim is only human. Wait til both sides have been heard. We are not to judge, only God can judge.

To Pablo, police are suspended when things like this happen because they are held to a higher standard. Because they have the right to take away a person's liberty and freedom. If someone who has sworn to uphold the law breaks it, then upon conviction they should not be allowed to enforce the laws. I am sure that the Pikeville police would not have arrested him without quite a bit of probable cause.

Now why would they be serving alcohol at a rockin, awesome, and kickin POISON concert? I was there and they were buying beer by the large cups, not just one but two at a time. At $6 bucks a cup, what profits they made. Yeah, I hate to say that I was one of the very few sober people there. But I still had an alcohol free great time. As for the state trooper, yeah he's human and drinks too. What's new?

Chris L, do you think a multi-BILLION dollar business is going to get shut down? I don't think so...You probably go to one of those "new" churches that scare you to death with such tactics as "alcohol is a sin, coffee is a sin, etc.." Yes, alcohol does need to be regulated as does smoking. How many people people in your church take prescription hypnotics like Xanax or Valium? I'd say half the congregation. Alcohol is probably the oldest additive in any beverage besides water. Many things are killing our children with stupid parents being the prime reason. So, drop your "holier than thou" attitude and go have a beer for christ's sake...

Alcohol is a depressant, not a stimulant and Christ turned water into wine eh. prohibition didn't work and the legal problems escalated during tht era instead of declining. What would be taxed to make up for the lost revenue if alcohol was outlawed? Responsibility is difficult to legislate. It's not alcohol that ruins lives, it's the abuse.

well i for one , speaking as an ex cop, have to say i admire the officer(s) from the pikeville pd for doing there job. i am from wv but have seen favoritism way to much from one cop to another. this officer done his job and should be commended for doing so. we need way more officers like him. wtg sir and keep up the good work. just hope it dont end up costing u your job.

if that is what happened, I don't think he deserves to be fired, suspended......yes. He hasn't done anything wrong while on the job so leave him be with a suspension and a fine.

get over it he was just having a good time you cant hold cops to unreal standards . most of the time they dont know what danger's they might face around the next bend .no one was hurt so let him off the hook and get on with the serious business of police work!

I know for a fact that this kind of stuff goes on with the wv troopers also and more arrests need to be made in both states.

Another good reason to make alcohol illegal. We need to bring back the prohibition of alcohol. It is killing our children, and our policemen are no exception. We need to do away with these evil drinks. If one stimulant is a sin then they all are. The church I go to preaches to us that all stimulants are a sin, i.e. coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, drugs. Most people in my church look at people who drink alcohol in the same way they would a heroin user. However, it seems it is ok to take prescription drugs, and sometimes that does include sedatives. People always talk about drugs ruining lives, but that number is not even near the lives ruined by alcohol. It's time we made a change and take away this lethal drug once and for all.

The guy was just jamming out to some 90's butt rock of Poison. You know he wasn't looking for Nothing But A Good Time. In the end it seems he found out Every Rose Has Its Thorn being a cop in jail. :-)

no say it isn't so that one of our "boys" in blue was drunk, he will get off of those charges like the drunk trooper who killed that lady in Ky a couple of years ago!

Well, at least the trooper wasn't driving while drunk. Looks as if its public intoxication only. Many of you know I'm a top supporter of law enforcement. And like I've said many times, cops are not above the law, nor should they be below it. I'm not sure why he was suspended. Anyone else would go back to their job without losing it. Why shouldn't the officer be any different. Many citizens are arrested yearly for public intoxication. They spend the night in jail, pay a fine, and go about their lives. Is if fair not to do the cop the same way? I'm all for more strict laws concerning alcohol, whether it be drinking and driving or public intoxication. But the law needs to apply to all. Punishing this trooper more severe than you would if it was a construction worker is wrong. Make the laws tougher for eveyone, but equal to everyone.
